Viking Launches New Ship, Viking Mira

Viking has recently launched its latest ocean vessel, the Viking Mira, achieving a significant construction milestone as it makes its first contact with water. Classified as a small ship, like all of Viking's ocean fleet, the Viking Mira boasts a gross tonnage of 54,300 tons and features 499 staterooms accommodating up to 998 guests. The ship is set to make its debut in spring 2026 and will operate itineraries in the Mediterranean and Northern Europe during its inaugural season.

“In our view, together with Fincantieri we have created the world’s most elegant fleet of small ocean ships—and the float out of the Viking Mira marks yet another important milestone as we continue to grow our fleet,” said Torstein Hagen, Chairman and CEO of Viking. “As we prepare to welcome her in 2026, we are proud to offer even more opportunities for curious travellers to explore the world in Viking comfort.”

The traditional float-out ceremony was held at the Fincantieri shipyard in Ancona, marking a crucial step as the ship approaches the final phase of its construction. The float-out of the Viking Mira commenced on July 31 at around 11:00 a.m. local time when the ceremonial cord was cut, allowing water to begin flowing into the ship's building dock. This two-day process will set the Viking Mira afloat, after which she will be transferred to a nearby outfitting dock for the completion of construction and interior finishing touches.
